Frommer's
Review:
Located
just outside the park's Nisqually Entrance, this bed-and-breakfast
first opened as an inn back in 1912. Today, as then, it
is one of the preferred places to stay in the area, offering
not only comfortable rooms but also some of the best food
around. Much care went into the interior restoration.
The first floor is taken up by the dining room, but on
the second floor you'll find a big lounge where you can
sit by the fire on a cold night. By far the best room
in the house is the tower suite, which is in a turret
and has plenty of windows looking out on the woods. After
a hard day of playing on the mountain, there's no better
place to relax than in the hot tub overlooking the inn's
trout pond. The entire inn is non-smoking. The inn also
rents two three-bedroom houses (call for details).

Alexander's Country Inn
Occupies the top end of the lodging spectrum.
Constructed in 1912 (with more recent additions), the
inn was visited by presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William
Howard Taft early in this century, was closed for many
years, and has been lovingly restored to its original
beauty, with antique furnishings, fireplaces, stained-glass
windows, and the modern addition of a hot tub. A full
breakfast is served.

Goyot:
Alexander's Country Inn
Located just a mile from the southwest entrance
to Mount Rainier National Park, this B&B is noteworthy
for its heritage alone ... it’s one of the state’s
oldest inns and was opened shortly after the majestic
natural attraction became a national park. Once the setting
for fabulous overnight gatherings held by a local school
teacher, the historic Victorian inn still hosts overnight
guests, as well as visitors seeking its restaurant’s
fabulous food. For those travelers who feel that camping
is the best way to appreciate the park, take note---this
is much, much better. The inn is an ideal escape from
the scrapes and bruises sustained during a day of hiking,
offering just the right kind of details to help weekend
worriers forget about their sprains. Guests can enjoy
soaking in a luxurious hot tub by a trout pond, and then
warm their weary bodies in front of a fireplace while
drinking a glass of wine.
